A Series of Haiku by Ben Sheffer
I write the blank page,
finding myself in the words.
A melancholy.
Do we wear our masks
because if we remove them,
others can see us smile?
Freedom is the lack
the loss of eighth syllables
suspense of wisdom.
There is no teacher
without a willing student
nor fish without stream.
The great irony
is that when we stop looking,
we find the answer!
If we can create,
the river can carry us
where we want to go.
Words scratch at our doubts
letting us outrun the thoughts
we don't want to think.
finding myself in the words.
A melancholy.
Do we wear our masks
because if we remove them,
others can see us smile?
Freedom is the lack
the loss of eighth syllables
suspense of wisdom.
There is no teacher
without a willing student
nor fish without stream.
The great irony
is that when we stop looking,
we find the answer!
If we can create,
the river can carry us
where we want to go.
Words scratch at our doubts
letting us outrun the thoughts
we don't want to think.
